About Us

The Fine Arts Marquee is a space where art comes alive. Founded on the belief that every artist deserves a stage, we offer a dedicated venue for all visual creators—both professional and aspiring—to share their work with the community.

Based in the Hillcrest, we are the meeting point for the incredible talent from both the North and South KZN coastlines to the Midlands and beyond.

We don't just try to marry buyers with art; we celebrate the stories behind the artists and their work. Through our interactive artist demonstrations, visitors can discover new techniques and mediums firsthand, creating a unique dialogue between the maker and the community.

Tracy White

Wildlife & Pet Portrait Artist

Based in the Hillcrest area, Tracy White’s artistic journey is one of evolution and discovery. While she began her path in 2019 exploring the fluidity of watercolours, her search for precision led her through a focused period with coloured pencils in 2023.

In 2024, Tracy discovered her true calling in soft pastels and pastel pencils. This medium provides the perfect balance of texture and detail required for her signature style: vibrant realism.

Tracy specializes in pet portraits and wildlife, driven by a fascination with animal personality. She is particularly drawn to subjects with evocative expressions—those fleeting, soulful looks that invite the viewer to pause and wonder, "What are they thinking?"

Debbie Linforth

From a young age, the African bush shaped not only Debbie’s childhood, but her soul.

Growing up in the wild beauty of Limpopo, she was fortunate enough to spend most of her early years immersed in a true bush environment.

With a sketchpad and pencils always close at hand, she would quietly choose a spot beneath the vast African sky and draw whatever unfolded before her — wildlife moving through the veld, birds in the trees, and the raw, untamed beauty of nature.

Her deep connection with the bush led her to qualify and work as a field guide at numerous reserves across South Africa.

This experience allowed her to observe animals intimately in their natural habitats and to capture her own photographic reference material — images that would later be meticulously brought to life on paper.

Animals remain Debbie’s greatest passion and the central focus of her work. Whether sketching majestic African wildlife or beloved family pets, she strives to capture not only physical likeness but personality, spirit, and emotion.

Working primarily in graphite and Polychromos coloured pencils, Debbie combines technical precision with heartfelt storytelling in every piece she creates.

Meet The Artist

I was born in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands, in the 60s just after Nelson Mandela was captured near our family’s dairy farm. For some reason, the Dargle Valley is a creator of creative people, and I am lucky enough to be one of the products of this area.

It was during my studies at the Natal Technikon in the 80s that I realised that you could have a career in the art world. There were many options, from journalism to graphic art, fine art, and jewellery design; the choice was endless. I was dying to do something like this, but continued the boring way forward, studying as a Production Manager with a bursary from Coronation brickworks in Pietermaritzburg.

I married my wife Wendy in ‘86, and we have two gorgeous adult children. Wendy taught, and I ran a busy estate agency in Hilton. There was very little time for art, but, boy, did I need to use my creative mind for cash flow, being ahead of the opposition, and keeping all the bills paid.

My art career started on a family holiday to Knysna, where I attended a course with well-respected commercial artist Dale Elliot.

With the odd break and many mentors, I have slowly built my own style. My favourite spot is my studio set in a quiet cul de sac in Hilton, KwaZulu-Natal. The rolling hills, cattle in neighbouring pastures, a rumble from a farm tractor and the fresh smell of cow dung are certainly what I call home.
